The alarm goes off when it's still dark, and for a second you hate us. Then you're at Lavender Bay, life jacket on, paddle in hand, and the water is so flat it looks like glass. The city is still asleep. You're not.
How it works
Local sunrise tours meet at Lavender Bay, a short walk from the apartment. You get a safety briefing and paddle tips, then glide out under the Harbour Bridge and across towards the Opera House just as the sun comes up. It's about two hours, and some finish with a walk to a local café.
Do I need to be fit?
Not really. If you can sit in a chair and wave your arms around, you're qualified. The guides set the pace.
Our tip
Book it for your first or second morning. Jet lag wakes you up early anyway, so you may as well be on the water when it does.
